Internal linking structureWhat it checks and how to fix it
What it checks
Counts the page's links to other pages on the same site. Fails when the page has no internal links at all, warns when some link targets are not valid URLs, and passes otherwise.
Why it matters
Search engines discover pages and share authority between them through internal links. A page with none is a dead end for crawlers and visitors alike, and passes nothing on to the rest of the site. Links with malformed URLs lead nowhere and waste crawl budget.
How to fix it
Every page should link into the rest of the site: the main navigation, a footer, breadcrumbs, and contextual links
to related pages within the content. Use plain <a href> links that crawlers can follow, not click handlers.
<header>
<nav aria-label="Primary">
<a href="/">Home</a>
<a href="/features">Features</a>
<a href="/pricing">Pricing</a>
</nav>
</header>
<p>Before publishing DMARC, make sure your <a href="/guides/spf-record">SPF record</a> covers every sender.</p>
Fix malformed targets: encode spaces and special characters (/guides/dmarc%20setup, or better, /guides/dmarc-setup)
and remove stray quotes or template placeholders left in href attributes.
