Lighthouse SEO ScoreWhat it checks and how to fix it
What it checks
Reads the SEO category score from a Lighthouse run on the page, simulating a mid-range phone. A score of 90 or above passes, 50 to 89 warns, and below 50 fails. It runs on the pages chosen for Lighthouse.
Why it matters
Lighthouse's SEO score checks the basics search engines rely on: an indexable page with a title and meta description, a valid robots.txt, a viewport for mobile, descriptive link text, readable font sizes and crawlable links. A low score means at least one of those fundamentals is missing, which can keep the page out of search results or make its listing unattractive.
How to fix it
Run Lighthouse in Chrome DevTools with the SEO category on mobile and fix each failing audit. Most pages need these in the head:
<head>
<title>Website audit tool: security, SEO and performance checks</title>
<meta name="description" content="Audit any website for security headers, SEO, performance and email deliverability.">
<meta name="viewport" content="width=device-width, initial-scale=1">
<link rel="canonical" href="https://example.com/">
</head>
Also make sure the page is not blocked by robots.txt or a noindex directive, use descriptive link text instead of "click here", and give every link a real href. Aim for 90 or more.
